Molly’s Wagon is an old 1950’s circus showman’s wagon that has been lovingly restored and now sits in a quiet corner of an arboretum in Treberfydd House near Brecon.
We stayed here last May when the bluebells were in bloom and two orphan newborn lambs gamboled around the estate. It was such a beautiful place to rest and relax after the hurly burly of the Giffords Circus opening night, and rather apt too!
Inside the wagon was the most comfortable super king size bed and wood burning stove. Whilst in a hut nearby is a hot shower and compost loo. The kitchen is outdoors underneath a huge canopy but with electricity and everything you could possibly need in a kitchen.
Treberfydd lies in the shadow of Waun Fach, and the Brecon Beacon mountain range, perfect for long walks with breathtaking views.
We stopped at The Bull’s Head in Craswall for cider, cheese and chips, it’s a few valleys over from Molly’s Wagon and underneath the Black Hill. It is an old drovers inn with a ‘hole in the wall’ bar and old flagstones on the floor and we loved it.
Next door to Molly’s Wagon in the old walled garden is the very beautiful and very instagrammable Treberfydd Nursery, with an honesty coffee shop as well as lots of hardy Welsh plants.
I love discovering hidden places like Molly’s Wagon, it was the most perfect find and made for the most restful retreat. This isn’t an ad, just wanted to share a really lovely place with you all.
